ALAW BACH TCC

This is the first Welsh designed sea kayak to be produced using Thermoformed Composite Construction. Rockpool’s most popular design is now available in the latest manufacturing technology available in kayak construction.
The ALAW BACH TCC
is designed for dynamic sea conditions, yet stable and comfortable for docile waterways as well. On flat water the boat tracks and glides efficiently. When edged the stern and bow are released and it takes little effort to turn. In following seas and on waves the mid-ship hard chines resist broaching and make control easier than most round hull boats. The TCC is available in 5 different deck colors over a white hull and each boat comes with an assortment of Starfish so you can personalize yours.

Thermoformed Composite Construction (TCC)

To achieve the most desirable characteristics of a modern sea kayak, we must look at several aspects. First of all, it must be strong enough to withstand the environmental conditions that we are expecting to use it in. Secondly, it must be light enough to carry to the place we want to paddle. Thirdly, it should be made of a material that allows the design to be accurately reproduced. Finally, the manufacture of the kayak should have the least impact on both the workers that produce it and the environment that it is produced in. TCC™ addresses all of these issues.

TCC™ materials start out as polymer resins just like both Fiberglass Composites and Polyethylene. And like other resins, they are combinations of ingredients to achieve desired end results. FCC resins come as liquids and Polyethylene comes as powder while TCC resins come as pellets. These pellets are then loaded into hoppers and through heat and pressure are forced through extruders and come out in sheet form at a uniform thickness. These sheets can be co-extruded with other resins to make a composite sheet. The finished sheets are then cut to size and shipped to the boat manufacturer. Again, there are infinite combinations of resins that can be used in this process with many potential variations in the finished products. Much like most things you really do get what you pay for.

The ALAW BACH TCC™ is a beautiful marriage between Classic Sea Kayak design and latest kayak manufacturing technology. The TCC retains the shape and primary features of the Fiberglass model with recessed deck fittings, drop down skeg, water proof 10 inch hatches bow and stern and 8 inch day hatch. We have added security loops bow and stern, high performance seat and backrest and slightly different deck rigging.
